Our range of “Printer Fundamentals Training Courses”, are designed to allow your candidates to gain a comprehensive understanding of the mechanics of a range of printers and how to fix basic faults across a wider range of similar units.
Our courses will guide your candidates through the theory of operation and are predominately based upon hands-on learning with guidance. We also cover parts identification, basic fixes and fuser/maintenance kit installation.
We will focus on a hands-on approach to live fault diagnosis, dismantling, corrective actions and reassembly. Also included are calibration, usage and troubleshooting tips and tricks from our experienced engineers.
Colour Laser Course
The Colour Laser Fundamentals Course also covers the new advances in colour technology, as well as the hands on approach to live fault diagnosis, dismantling, corrective action and reassembly. Also included are colour theory and the colour laser process.
The Multifunction Printers Fundamentals Course also focuses on the scanner portion of the MFP and includes theory of operation, paper path, consumables and ADF maintenance kits. Also covered is use of the MFP for copy, scan and faxing applications, along with menus, live fault analysis and trouble-shooting.
The DesignJet Fundamentals Course provides candidates with the knowledge they need to begin servicing and supporting HP DesignJets. Trouble-shooting, maintenance kits, live fault analysis and parts identification are covered along with basics such as aligning paper, performing diagnostics and more.
What Our Attendees Say
“Just to say thanks for all the support and help I received from the team at the Express Group. The training was excellent and the knowledge I have gained will be of considerable help to me in the field of printing engineering. I look forward to returning for further courses on other models.”
David Richard, System Analyst, Ashursts Law Firm
“I would like to thank all at the Express Group for a very well run and useful course. Please thank Paul Gill (Engineering Technician) who I thought was very knowledgeable. I would also like to thank you for the hospitality and making me feel very welcome.”
Paul Duffy, IT Department, Charles Lucas and Marshall Solicitors
“The course covered all the aspects I wanted to know about our printers and has given me the confidence to repair them in the field. The great thing about the Express Groups training courses is that the instructor is the engineer from the workshop not an instructor who has just read the manual, therefore you get a full picture of the printer”
Tony Mouat, Harrow IT Services, London Borough of Harrow
“I would like to thank the Express Group for the recent three day colour printer training course. The feedback from our engineers was that it was an excellent course, the instructor was very professional and covered all relevant points.”
Sandy Torrie, Field Service Manager, NVT Computing Limited
Express Group’s training courses aim to provide the candidates with a skill and knowledge base that will assist the engineer in field and workshop based repairs enabling them to enhance overall customer satisfaction and increase first time analysis and fix rates.
All courses include:
- Guided dismantling and reassembly
- Live fault simulation and corrective action
- The image development process
- Theory of mechanical systems and the paper path process
- Health and Safety
- Post course premium technical support from the course tutor
- User manual for printers covered on the training course
- Express Group Training Certification
- Lunch and refreshments
Every step of the course is designed to develop the engineers’ skills base in the repair arena.
Guided Dismantling and re-assembling
This is the main body of the course and allows the engineer real hands on experience of working with the printer. The engineer is guided through repair issues and how best to dismantle and repair faults.
Live Fault Simulation and Corrective Action
The trainer will simulate an error on the printer and the engineers will be asked to diagnose and repair the fault in real fault simulation ‘as if they are attending a call’. The trainer will watch and advise on the fault finding. This process is led by the candidate but is directed by the trainer.
The Image Development Process
This incorporates the process from when the machine receives a job to print to how the toner is put onto the page and sealed.
Theory of mechanical systems and the paper path process
This element investigates how the machine works and observes the functionality of the machine and its capabilities. This differs from the above as it is mechanically based rather than concentrating on the transferal of the toner.
This element covers the most common faults, paper jams and error messages. The trainer will also cover the errors that the engineer is most likely to encounter out in the field and how to diagnose and repair them.
Health and Safety issues
The trainer will cover lifting, scanner safety, toner handling, power supply handling to match the manufacturers specifications.
